Would you like links with that copy?

Xenite.Org received another link request this weekend. Actually, we received two and I’m still thinking about one of them. But the other request was doomed from the start. Someone sent us a press release.
There are no pages on Xenite.Org that ask people to submit press releases to us. We are not [...]
SEO Mythology: Old Domains Versus New Domains
Posted by Michael Martinez on April 15, 2007 in Seo Myths
Question: What does this query have in common with this query, this query, and this query?
The domain was registered in October 2006. It was apparently launched in January 2007. So here we are in April 2007 and the domain is ranking well for several different expressions.
They’re not what SEOs would consider to be [...]
All the link-building rules you will ever need

So I was reading SE Roundtable’s report on the 2007 SES New York Linking Strategies session. I was not only disappointed to see such lame, outdated advice being shared at a major conference, I was convinced that we made the right decision not to send me to New York.

Quick note on comments
Posted by Michael Martinez on April 4, 2007 in General
I naively assumed I would see obvious notifications of comments awaiting moderation, as with Blogger. However, if Wordpress can do that we haven’t set it up to do that. I’ve only just discovered a few comments awaiting moderation and have approved them.
Sorry.
Optimizing with content zones

Every Web page can be divided into five zones: the header, the left and right margins, the footer, and the body. Many page templates follow this model closely. Outside the body, the most heavily used content zone tends to be the left margin, but most people only use that space for navigation.
You can divide the [...]
Charting trends

I often tell people you need at least a year’s worth of data about search referrals and Web traffic for any given topic before you can really begin to understand how to optimize for queries relative to that topic.
But that’s not always the case. When you deal with industries that are continually producing new [...]
